Structure & Funding

The Lobster Council of Canada (LCC) Board of Directors is comprised of twenty two Board members, ten of whom are appointed by the processing and live shipping sectors, ten who are appointed by the harvesting sector and two from the First Nation community.

Composition of the harvester board members is on the following basis:

Harvesters represent a designated Lobster Management Region as follows:

(i) Gulf Region – 3 seats, (ii) Newfoundland & Labrador Region – 2 seats, (iii) Quebec Region – 2 seats and (iv) Maritimes Region – 3 seats.

The LCC’s by-laws provide for one standing committee of the Board which is the Executive Committee. Other Ad-hoc committees or working groups may be established by the Board from time to time to carry out certain tasks or make recommendations to the Board on specific issues.

The elected officers of the LCC are the Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. The Board Chair and Executive Director are ex-officio members of all committees.

 

Funding

The Lobster Council of Canada is incorporated as a not for profit corporation under part 2 of the Canada Corporations Act. The association derives its funding from government sources and the industry in the form of membership dues.
